MEDIA ADVISORY: November 18th Event--Treating Adolescents with Borderline Personality Disorder

Free Breakfast Learning Series invites clinicians and community members to learn about Dialectical Behavior Therapy and its affect on adolescents

WHAT:
Centerstone and the Ivy Tech Community College School of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences to present a free, Breakfast Learning Series event titled, “Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents.” Licensed Clinical Social Worker Cheryl Mansell of New Outlook Counseling Center will review:

  • The skills and strategies of using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with adolescents struggling with emotional disorders such as borderline personality
  • disorder.
  • The common strategies used for emotional regulation and reducing emotional  ntensity in young adults.
  • How the Mindfulness practice of DBT works in conjunction with distress tolerance skills.
  • The types of barriers adolescents face with interpersonal communication and sustaining stable relationships.
The Breakfast Learning Series is designed especially for clinicians and community members who support those recovering from mental illness and addiction. Continuing education credits are available for a $5.00 charge.
