Parenting That Works
Parenting That Works is a nationally recognized, parent-implemented program designed to help parents deal with the behavior and development of preschool children. Experienced parents, along with professional staff, who completed the program successfully provide training and support for newly enrolled families.
We can help with the following areas of challenging behavior:
- Tantrums, screaming
- Not following directions, stubbornness
- Aggression, destructive behavior
- Withdrawn behavior
- Hyperactivity, not paying attention
- Bedtime or sleeping problems
- Trouble with potty training
Eligibility
Parenting That Works is available to children ages 1 to 5 and their families. If you are the parent or caregiver of a young child and have concerns about inappropriate or problematic behavior, you may qualify for these free services.
What to expect
Parents and children will be expected to attend two classes each week until family goals are met. At least one enrolled parent must participated with their child.

Centerstone – North Region

- Tuesdays and Thursdays:
- 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Centerstone – South Region
Columbia, TN 38401
- Monday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This free program is provided through funding from a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, United Way and other local contributions.
